CEDAR CREEK. In central part of Cedar Township. Post office, 1869—81.


EUREKA. A hamlet in section 11, Jaekson township, on the North Raccoon River.


FORBES STATION. On the C., ST. & St. P. Ry. between Jefferson and Farlin.


GREEN CASTLE. In the Southwestern part of Washington Township near the North Raccoon River, as shown on maps of 1857 to 1862.


GREENOPS. Near the central part of Kendrick Township, as shown on maps of 1855 to 1857.


GREYS. In central part of Cedar Township, as shown on maps of 1868 and 1869.


HARDIN. A post office and the virtual county seat for a year or two before Jefferson was established in 1855, as William Phillips had become both postmaster and county judge there and held court there. It was located four miles southeast of the present site of Jefferson in the northeast quarter of the southeast quarter of

section 22, Grant Township, near Hardin Creek.


HAVANNA. In the northwestern part of Kendrick Township, near the North Raccoon River, as shown on maps of 1857 to 1862.


KENDRICK. Near the central Part of Kendrick Township. Post office, 1868-67.


NEW JEFFERSON. The early name given the present city of Jefferson. New Jefferson was the name of post office from 1859 to 1867.


NORTHFIELD. First in the northern part of Kendrick Township and later in the southern part of Cedar Township. Post office, l865-81.


PADUCA. In the southeastern part at Washington Township near the North Raccoon River, as shown on maps from 1857 to 1868.


RIPPEY. In section 7, Washington Township, near the North Raccoon River, as shown on maps from 1857 to 1880. When the railroad was built about four miles to the east "Old Rippey’ was largely removed to the present town of Rippey.


SCRANTON CITY. The name of the post office at the present town of Scranton from 1880 to 1889.


SCRANTON STATION. The name of the post office at the present town of Scranton from 1869 to 1880.
